Head gaskets
Someone asked me if my engineer used a sealant for the head gasket. He swears by the CRC product pictured. Sprays on 4-5 applications each side prior to installation. Each layer dries in a couple of minutes apparently.
He also had an interesting base rule re starting a new engine: Only use fresh water until the head is re-torqued. If you have antifreeze in the system the retightening sequence (unscrew a quarter of a turn then torque up the nut) will leak antifreezing into the gasket and it will never seal as well again. Interesting tip.
Once finally torqued, add antifreeze.
