Oil Seal – The original oil seal was a felt washer but this can be superseded by a modern lip seal 48 x 72 x 7 R23
Hub Inner Bearing – I use ‘sealed for life’ bearings that need no further lubrication and prevents any over lubrication from contaminating the brake shoes. The ‘sealed for life’ bearings in my old hubs were fitted 32 years ago and have done over 50k miles and had no signs of wear although I have taken the precaution of fitting new bearings. If you wish to retain conventional bearings and regular greasing the number is the same without the suffix i.e. MJ 30.
R&M Ref. = MJ 30 WSRR. SKF Ref. = 6306-2RS
