Dashboard insert
The brass plate was originally silvered and treated with egg yolk, then it went blueish. Tell this to your wife and she will respond "everybody knows, that eggs should not be eaten with a silver spoon".
I am not sure, but probably the SA and WA dashboards were treated in the same way?
The closest shade of colour is RAL5008, "grey blue" (only a european standard?)
At best you buy 2-pack-paint, that is acrylic paint and hardener, mix it 2:1 and spay it with a gun.
I think spraying with aerosol makes a too thin and sensitive layer, as this type of paint is too liquid.
After lettering the cover is another clear acrylic paint.
Polish the raised brass ribs and mask. Colour spray the dash. Apply Walter Prechsl lettering, but press on very hard. Best to buy 2 or 3 sets so you can practice. Clearcoat over the whole including the brass to seal. All the better if a local spray shop does it as you will get a harder surface as it is easily scratched otherwise.
